BUDGAM, May 21: Army today organized a day long Spring Event 2015 for the locals of area at Chrar-e-Sharief Sports Field, here.
The event marked the culmination of a number of Sadhbhavana events conducted by Rashtriya Rifles Battalion in District Budgam.
These events included a cricket tournament for 12 teams of Chrar-e-Sharief, Chadoora and Khansahib Tehsils, Drawing, Painting and Debate competitions.
Chrar-e-Sharief sports field located in the backdrop of Pir Panjal Ranges was an ideal site and the event was attended by people from urban as well as remote areas of Kandi belt.
The spring event was attended by over1500 people including elders, youth, women and children.
The highlight of the event was a cultural programme presented by ‘Expression Group’ from Srinagar.
The event was inaugurated by GOC Victor Force Maj Gen Arvind Dutta.
The event highlighted the ground work done during various Sadhbhavana activities carried out by the Rashtriya Rifles Battalion at Budgam district.
On this occasion, GOC Victor Force facilitated Women Empowerment Centre and Youth Guidance Node at Qasba Nagam.
He also facilitated the schools from Ledan and Nilnag by presenting them computers and cricket kits.
At the end of the event, GOC Victor Force also announced the legacy project for up-gradation of Chrar-e-Sharief, sports ground by construction of seating stand, changing room, toilets and cricket practice nets.
The Army extended thanks to the locals for their support and cooperation in making the event a success.
