Jammu, Feb 20: In an endeavour to provide an impetus to education facilities in far flung areas and integrate the people of Jammu & Kashmir into the national mainstream through Operation Sadbhavana, Army distributed furniture to Government Primary School, Bharansal, Government Higher Secondary School, Balmatkot and Government Primary School, Lower Tukson. The Battalion also distributed sports items to the schools, as a step towards motivating the children to take up sports as a career.
The Armed forces have been at the forefront of carrying out development works in underprivileged areas of the region. These schools are imparting education to more than 500 students of Bharansal, Balmatkot, Lower Tukson and adjacent villages. These schools had neither adequate furniture nor adequate funds to purchase furniture.
On the occasion, Commanding Officer handed over the furniture items to the Headmasters of the schools. The distribution ceremony was also witnessed by the Sarpanches and other civil authorities. The parents and villagers appreciated the efforts of the Army towards contributing furniture to the school.
