KISHTWAR, Aug 20: Indian Army conducted a Trekking Expedition from Chingam via Nagan Pass, Navapachchi (Marwah) and Dachhin Valley to Kishtwar, which concluded here today.
During the Expedition, Indian Army team interacted with the local population including Gujjars and Bakarwals in far flung areas. The team also interacted with parents of martyrs who had made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty to maintain peace in the region.
Over a period of 19 days, the trekking team of One Officer and 10 other ranks covered over 180 kilometers through treacherous and challenging high altitude terrain. The team also traversed through inaccessible jungles of Naginsur and Krankalhauru ridge and on successful completion of the Expedition, the team was flagged-in at Kishtwar Helipad.
The initiative of Indian Army to conduct this unique Trekking Expedition was also aimed at commemorating 25 years of relationship between the ‘Awam’ & ‘Jawans’ which has resulted in maintaining peace, tranquillity, conducive environment and religious harmony in the region.
