UDHAMPUR, Feb 25: To inculcate sportsman spirit among the youth, ‘Pir Panjal Volleyball League’ was conducted by the Indian Army in Samote from February 20, which concluded today.
The event was part of the Army’s efforts to promote positive youth development through sports and provide a platform to showcase their talent.
A total of eight teams from Doda, Poonch, Kishtwar, Rajouri, Naushera, Ramban, Samote and Reasi participated in the tournament.
Team Poonch Warriors was adjudged champion and Team Ramban Bulls remained runners-up in a competitive and keenly contested match.
The event witnessed an overwhelming response both in terms of participation and the spectators.
Major General Dhiraj Seth, General Officer Commanding, Uniform Force, was the chief guest on the closing ceremony. Prominent among others present on the occasion were Ved Prakash, ADC Kotranka, Safiq Ahmed, Judge Kotranka and Imtiyaz, SDM Kotranka.
The chief guest expressed his happiness on the enthusiasm shown by all the participants.
He also complimented the local populace for making the event a grand success and was convinced that such events help in honing the hidden talent of the youth while enhancing the coordination and synergy between the Army, Civil Administration and the ‘Awam’.
