Archery tournament culminates at Barchey Colony

KARGIL, Feb 24: A local Archery tournament, organized by Sports and Education Association Barchey, concluded at Barchey Colony, here today.
Joint Director Information Ladakh, Imteeaz Kacho was the chief guest, while Advocate Asgar Ali Yarkain was the guest of honour and BDC Sodh Zakir Hussain, Sarpanchs, Panchs, Archery players and locals were present during the event.
The Joint Director lauded the efforts of the Association in organizing the tournament and appreciated the teams for participating with great enthusiasm.
While pointing out that there is no dearth of talent among youngsters of Kargil, Kacho said that they should get a chance to compete at the national and international levels. He said Archery should not remain confined just to the winter season but should become a round the year.
Advocate Asgar Ali Yarkain in his address after the formation of the Union Territory of Ladakh, immense opportunities and avenues are being provided to players. Earlier, BDC Sodh welcomed the guests and other participants and thanked them for attending the event.
A total of 34 teams took part in the tournament out of which Young Star Sarchay and RSY Pashkyum faced each other in the final contest. RSY Pashkyum earned 33 points and won the tournament, while Young Star Sarchay earned 32 points and was declared as runners-up.
