JAMMU, Nov 30: Army Public School (APS) Rakhmuthi celebrated its Annual Sports Day with enthusiasm and fervour today. The sports ground was beautifully festooned with flags and T- rods.
The Officiating SO to the Chairman and Disha Kamath presided over the event as the chief guests.
The programme commenced with torch lighting by the chief guests which was followed by a synchronized March Past by NCC cadets and the students of the four houses.
The students took the pledge to hold the school motto of Loyalty, Truth and Honour in high esteem. After that, Shaswati Ghosh, Principal of the school presented the school Annual Report, highlighting the achievements of the school.
A welcome dance on song ‘Ashayen’ was presented by the students of Primary Wing.
The day was sequenced with sports events in which students of class I took part excitedly in 50 Mtrs Hair band Race and Hat Race for girls and boys respectively; class II in Stepping on Heart Race; class III in Dressing Up For the Race; class IV in Balancing the Balloon Race; class V in Dribbling Race and Skipping Race for boys and girls respectively.
The students of classes VI, VII, VIII, IX and XI took part in 100 Mtrs and 200 Mtrs Races. The students of classes IX and XI also participated in 400 Mtrs and Relay Race. Teachers took part in Stitching the Button Race. Part-D employees participated in Obstacle Race. Students showcased their talent, vigour and unity in diverse forms of sports activities.
The other main enticements were Aerobics, Yoga and NSG that were performed with great thrill and passion. The show culminated with Grand Finale. Afterwards there was a prize distribution ceremony; the winners of various athletic activities were felicitated by the Chief Guests. Nehru House bagged the overall Trophy.
The chief guest praised the students and staff of the school and appreciated them for being part of the programme.
The vote of thanks was presented by the Principal of the Institution.
The day ended with National Anthem.
