Ansari inaugurates T-20 Cricket Tourney

SRINAGAR, July 25: Minster for Youth, Services and Sports Imran Raza Ansari today inaugurated Srinagar Under-19 Champions Trophy by declaring T-20 Cricket Tournament open at Kashmir University playground. The tournament is being organized by All J&K Peoples Welfare Association under the aegis of Chinar Corps, in which 16 teams from Down Town Srinagar are participating.
Minister of State for Housing and Power Muhammad Ashraf Mir, Major General A K Das, SC, GOI 31 Sub Area and MLC Khursheed Alam were guests of honour, while as BJP leader Darakhashan Indrabi, prominent cricket players and a large number of students were present at the occasion.
The Chairman, All J&K Peoples Welfare Association Mohammad Muzzafar Khan, District Youths Services officer ,Srinagar Balbir Singh Bali and Chief Proctor Kashmir University Dr. Naseer Iqbal were also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Ansari called upon the youth of J&K to participate in sports activities wholeheartedly and bring laurels to the nation and State. He said there is no dearth of talent among the youth of the state, adding that there is need of the hour is to channelize it in the right direction. He appreciated the organizers for organizing such mega event, saying that this would provide a platform to the interested youth in the sports to show their talent. He said that the Government is making all out efforts for the promotion of sports activities by up-gradating existing and creating new sports infrastructure sports in the State.
Mr. Mir also called upon the youth for actively participate in sports activities. He urged upon the people particularly youth to remain stay away from social evils including drug abuses.
Major General A. K Das speaking on the occasion, said that this tournament will be the finest opportunity for the cricket players of Down Town to showcase their talent.
