Annual sports week concludes at GMC-J

JAMMU, Nov 14: The annual sports week, organised by Government Medical College-Jammu (GMC-J) in various sports disciplines, concluded here today.
The matches including Cricket, Volleyball, Football, Basketball, Table Tennis, Squash, Badminton, Chess and Carrom were played during the event, wherein students and faculty members of the premier medical institution participated.
The faculty members also witnessed the finals for various games like Badminton and Volleyball. The faculty whole-heartedly participated in the events, won various accolades for their enthusiasm and cheered for all the teams.
The sports event like Tug of War, Lemon race, Skipping, Athletics and many more were organised on the final day the week.
Principal GMC-J, Dr Shashi Sudhan Sharma said, “This sports week has been very eventful and it was dedicated to Late Dr Ritu Gupta, Professor, Department of Physiology.”
She was an epitome of sincerity and dedication to the medical profession. Furthermore, she said that they would continue to hold such events at regular intervals so that the energy of our young medicos is channelized in a positive direction.
Dr Sudhan further said that the ‘Sports Complex’ will always be open for students to continue practising after the study hours and the students can refresh their minds from the hectic schedule of medical curriculum.
The event concluded by observing two minutes of silence in honour of the loving memory of Dr Ritu Gupta.
