SAMBA, May 19:  A gala cultural programme was organized at GDC Purmandal on the occasion of “Annual Day and Prize Distribution” function of the College in the presence of chief guest, Keshav Dutt Sharma, Chairman DDC Samba, here today.
The guests of honor were Avtar Singh, Member DDC Purmandal, Sapna Sapolia, Sarpanch Katwalta and SHO Purmandal Vijay Verma.
The function began with the lighting of the traditional lamp and the release of the College newsletter ‘RISE’ by the chief guest and other guests. College Principal Prof.(Dr.) Raj Shree Dhar formally welcomed all the guests and presented the Annual Day report highlighting the activities and achievements of the various departments of the College.
Chief guest Keshav Dutt Sharma in his speech appreciated the College authority for taking various initiatives for overall growth and progress of the students. He expressed his happiness and satisfaction with the overall development of the educational institution by innovative capabilities and spirit of the students towards ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan’.
Avtar Singh stressed on the need for following ethics and moral values which will prove beneficial in the long run for holistic development of the personality of the students. Sarpanch Katwalta Sapna Sapolia also shared her valuable views on this occasion.
SHO Vijay Verma congratulated the winners and wished all the best to outgoing students. He also congratulated the awardees and blessed them for their bright future.
The students who had brought laurels in academics and extracurricular activities were rewarded with medals, certificates and trophies. The student of the year award was presented to Lakshita of 6th semester.
The proceedings were conducted by Prof. Shahima Akhter (HoD EVS). Members of the administrative and non-teaching staff were also felicitated for their contribution to the institution. The whole programme was organized by Prof. Mohammad Rafi (NSS PO) with the active support of Prof. Lakshmi Sohan (Member NSS Committee) and other staff members.
