Aneesha creates history by winning double medals at Asian C’ship

JAMMU, Feb 8: Aneesha Sharma has made history for Jammu & Kashmir by winning two medals – team Gold and individual Bronze at the Asian Shooting Championship 2026, becoming the first shooter from the Jammu & Kashmir Rifle Association (JKRA) to achieve two international podium finishes at the Asian Championship. Her performance has brought immense pride to the region and the nation.
Aneesha trains at Mission Olympics Shooting Academy Jammu (MOSAJ), under the guidance of Coach Vishal Mehra and Aman Singh. She currently holds the India Junior Rank No 2 and has won multiple medals at National Championships, Khelo India Shooting Sports (KSS) Championships and All India Inter-University competitions. Her journey reflects dedication, discipline and relentless hard work, embodying the spirit of the Mission Olympics vision.
Admiring her achievement, Chief Patron of JKRA Dilbag Singh, former DGP of J&K and President Surinder Singh Sodhi praised Aneesha’s determination and commitment to excellence, calling it a proud moment for Jammu & Kashmir. JKRA Chairman Kuldeep Jamwal and General Secretary DySP Sharat Chander Singh also extended heartfelt congratulations and reiterated the association’s support for young shooters in the Union Territory.
Aneesha’s success is a source of inspiration for aspiring athletes across India. The JKRA also thanked Lt Governor Manoj Sinha, former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, J&K Sports Council, and the Department of Youth Services and Sports for their continued support, urging them to further enhance shooting infrastructure in Jammu & Kashmir.
