SRINAGAR, July 2: Anantnag Arsenals and Budgam Bemisals scripted resounding victories over their rivals to move into the next round of the ongoing Kashmir Premier League (KPL) T20 Cricket Tournament, being organized by the Indian Army in collaboration with the Department of Youth Services and Sports and J&K State Sports Council, here.
Earlier, put into bat by Baramulla Bahadurs, Anantnag Arsenals rode on a superb innings of 70 runs by Parvez Rasool and scored a decent total of 164 for the loss of 4 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Parvez struck 7 boundaries and 2 sixes in his 45-ball knock. Arshid Hussain (32) and Ashiq Hussain (31) were the other contributors. For Baramulla Bahadurs, Abid Salaam, Ashraf, Firdous and Mudasir claimed one wicket each.
Baramulla Bahadurs in reply bundled out for 113 runs, thus lost the match by 51 runs. None of the batsman showed much resistance against the disciplined bowling by the Arsenal bowlers. Parvez Rasool was the pick of the bowlers, who captured 4 wickets, while Asif Rasool and Aquib took 2 wickets each. Imtiyaz and Adnan also claimed a wicket each. Parvez Rasool was adjudged man of the match for his splendid all-round show.
Meanwhile, in another match, Budgam Bemisals thrashed Kupwara Knights by 6 wickets. Batting first, Kupwara Knights scored 163 for the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs, which Budgam Bemisals chased in 17.1 overs by losing 4 wickets, thus won the match by 6 wickets. Amir Malik was the star performer who scored 61 runs, which fetched him man of the match award.
