All-round show takes Samar Club to semis

SIMBAL, May 8: Brilliant all-round show helped Samar Cricket Club to thrash Miran Sahib Cricket Club by 42 runs to qualify for the semifinals of the ongoing Baisakhi Premier League T20 Cricket Tournament, being organized by Diamond Cricket Club at Boys High School, here today.
Batting first, Samar Club scored a fighting total of 146 runs in the stipulated 20 overs by losing 6 wickets in the process. Chetan Chib was the top scorer with 30 runs, studded with 3 boundaries, while Amrit Pal Singh contributed 25 runs with the help of 3 fours. Raman, Monu Sharma and Puneet contributed 24, 18 and 17 runs to the total respectively. For Miran Sahib Club, Pumma claimed 2 wickets, while Sachin, Tushar, Tinu and Rohit claimed one wicket apiece.
In reply, Miran Sahib Club, bundled out for 104 runs in 16.4 overs, thus lost the match by 42 runs. Pumma top scored with 25 runs, while Gagan, Pinchu, Tushar and Tinu scored 19, 15, 13 and 12 runs to the total respectively. Monu Sharma was the pick of the bowlers for Samar Club, who scalped 3 important wickets by conceding 11 runs in his quota of 4 overs, while Chetan Singh and Rohit bagged 2 wickets each and KK and Raman bagged one each.  Monu Sharma was adjudged man of the match.
The match was officiated by Kulbir Singh, physical education master and Ginni as umpires, while Swarn Singh was the scorer. The tournament is being held under the overall supervision of GS Michael, organizing secretary of the tournament.
