SRINAGAR, July 30: 17th All India Police Golf Tournament would be hosted by Jammu and Kashmir Police in the month of October in Srinagar. The tournament would begin on October 8 and conclude on October 10, 2013.
This was disclosed by the Director General of Police (DGP), Ashok Prasad while chairing a high level meeting of senior police functionaries at Armed Police Headquarters here today.
The meeting was convened to discuss the arrangements for the national level event being held at world famous Royal Spring Golf Course at Srinagar.
Addressing the meeting, Mr Prasad disclosed that 100 players, representing different 26 States and Central Police Organizations of the country would be participating in the three day long tournament, adding that Jammu and Kashmir Police is hosting the national event for the third time and earlier the tournament was held in Srinagar in 2002 and 2005.
The first tournament was held at Shillong in October 1996 and the 16th event of tournament was held in Haryana, the DGP added.
He further said that the Championship is being held under the aegis of All India Police Sports Control Board.
To ensure arrangements for the prestigious tournament, various committees were constituted in the meeting and the required arrangements were discussed.
The DGP stressed upon the officers to work in close coordination and utilize previous experiences for making the event a success.
Earlier, the ADGP (Armed), S M Sahai, who is Organising Secretary for the event, through a power point presentation apprised the high level meeting about the details and the required arrangements for the tournament.
Among others, the meetings was attended by ADGsP, PL Gupta and Dilbag Singh, IGPs, Dr B Srinivas, HK Lohia, Deepak Kumar, Rauf-ul-Hassan, SJM Geelani, AG Mir, Farooq Khan, Muneer Ahmed Khan and SS Khandre, DIGPs, AS Bali, Garib Dass, AK Atri, Abdul Hamid, Ashkoor Ahmed Wani, MM Sadiq and SP Altaf Ahmed Khan.
