JAMMU, Aug 27: The Directorate of Sports & Physical Education, University of Jammu, Jammu organized Inter-Collegiate Cross Country (Men) Championship 2018-19 at New University Campus in which 32 Athletes from 16 colleges took part.
Akshay Sharma of GDC Udhampur clinched Gold Medal by completing the race in 51.06.49 mins. Whereas, Sushil Kumar of GDC Udhampur and Zahid Ahmed of GDC Mendhar stood 2nd and 3rd by completing the race in 51.12.17 mins and 52.10.60 mins. respectively.
Prof. Manoj Kumar Dhar, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu, Jammu was the Chief Guest on the occasion who awarded medals to the position holders.
While addressing the participants, Prof. Dhâr, congratulated all the participants for their participation and also to the medal winners. Prof. Dhar advised the players to actively participate in the sports events for being physically fit, as a fit human being can contribute a lot to the society as well as the nation.
Dr. Meenakshi Kilam, Registrar, University of Jammu was also present on the occasion alongwith Dr. Daud Iqbal Baba, Director Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu, Dr. Neeraj Sharma, Special Secretary to the Vice Chancellor.
Other present there were Sumnesh Sharma Govt. MAM College, Balbir Singh GDC Samba, Sanjay Verma GDC Paloura, Rakesh Kumar GDC Reasi, Shajad Ali GDC Bishnah, Asstt. Prof. Sanjay Singh Sambyal GDC Akhnoor, Suresh Kumar, GDC Khour, Javaid Yousuf GDC Mendhar, Dr. Rohit Bhardwaj GDC Billawar, Asstt. Prof. Naresh Bhagat GDC Mahore Anil Kumar GDC Hiranagar, Gagan Kumar, Ravish Vaid, Vikas Karlopia, P.D.Singh and Sh. Jai Bharat.
Dr. Komal Nagar Assistant Director, Directorate of Sports & Physical Education, University of Jammu conducted the proceedings of the function and also presented vote of thanks.
Romesh Sharma (Retd. SAI Coach), S.Gurcharan Singh, (Athletics Coach), Nirmal Singh (Athletics Coach), Harsimran Singh (Athletics coach) Raj Kumar Bakshi and students of M.P.Ed and B.P.Ed courses conducted the race under the overall supervision of Dr. Daud Iqbal Baba Director, Directorate of Sports & Physical Education, University of Jammu.
