JAMMU, Mar 29: Akhnoor Veterans defeated Jammu Sports Veterans by 3 runs in a nail biting final match and lifted the Champions Trophy, being played at Government Higher Secondary School Akhnoor today.
Electing to bat first after winning the toss, Akhnoor Veterans scored 154 runs by losing 6 wickets in 20 overs. Sonu Malhotra played a brilliant inning of 72 runs off 41 balls, while Deepak Sharma made 19 runs and Mall Ditta scored 17 runs.
From Jammu Sports Veterans side, Koushal and Mukesh Sharma shared 2 wickets each, while Kulvir got 1 wicket.
In reply, Jammu Sports Veterans scored 151 runs by losing 6 wickets in 20 overs thus lost the match by just 3 runs. Jagdev Singh scored 44 runs, while Mukesh Sharma chipped in 24 runs, Davinder Sharma and Vishal scored 15 runs each.
From Akhnoor Veterans side, Jagpal Sharma and Rajinder Sharma shared 2 wickets each, while SS Langeh got 1 wicket.
Sonu Malhotra was declared as Man of the Match.
The match was officiated by Stiphen Sotra and Karan Gupta as umpires, while Manav Mehta maintained the scoreboard.
Rakesh Malhotra BJP District President Industries and Business Akhnoor was the chief guest on the occasion and Atul Sudan Vice President Press Club Akhnoor was the guest of honour.
The three match championship was organized by Singh Cricket Club Akhnoor under the overall supervision of Sham Singh Langeh President Singh Cricket Club Akhnoor.
