Akbar emerges winner of MTB race

SRINAGAR, June 20: International cyclist Akbar Khan emerged winner, whereas Parviaz Hussain and Waheed clinched 2nd and 3rd places respectively in Open Mountain Bike (MTB) race wherein about 50 mountain bikers of Valley participated.
The 12 km race was flagged off by Zameer Ahmad Thakur, senior vice president of J&K Olympic Association from Syed Abad Ompora which passed through majestic mountains of the Valley.
“Mountain biking got lot of scope in Kashmir, we only need to tape it,” said chief guest, Zameer A Thakur.
The MTB race was sponsored by Pandith Trading Company, Humhama; AL-Madina Departmental Store, Rawalpora; Miraj Joinery Mills (MJM), Baghi Ali Mardan Khan and Riyaz Gift House, Rawalpora and supported by J&K Cycling Association, Kashmir Youth Unity Sports Club and Kashmir based sports personalities.
