Akash, Vishal win hearts as Milchar, KC enter semis

JAMMU, Nov 27: With their superb batting display, promising opening batsman Akash Raina and gritty middle-order batsman won hearts of the cricket lovers as Delhi based formidable Milchar Cricket Club and strong team of KC Young Strikers thrashed their rivals in the quarterfinals and became the first two teams to seal berth in the semifinals of the ongoing Kashmiri Pandit Premier League (KPPL), being held under the banner of Iqwaat Sports Organisation, an initiative of Vishwa Kashmiri Samaj at MA Stadium, here today.
In the other two quarterfinals to be played tomorrow, Sai Cricket Club will lock horns with Kashmir Rangers at 9 am, while RCC Bulls will take on Satan Cricket Club at 1 pm.
Earlier, in the first match played today, KC Young Strikers defeated Tulmul Tigers by 33 runs in an easy contest.
Batting first, KC Young Strikers scored a decent total of 143 runs in the allotted 20 overs. Vishal Kanth played a magnificent innings of 73 runs off 57 balls, studded with 5 fours and 1 six, while Rohan Koul contributed 37 runs off 32 balls including 2 boundaries and 1 six. From Tulmul Tigers, Vikas Pandita and Vinod Bhat took 2 wickets each while Suraj Koul claimed 1 wicket.
Tulmul Tigers in reply managed to score 110 runs, losing 5 wickets in the process, thus lost the match by 33 runs. Ronak Razdan top scored with unbeaten 37 runs, while Praveen Raina and Ave Kachroo contributed 28 and 25 runs to the total respectively. For KC Young Strikers, Sanchit Dass took 2 wickets, while Vicky, Ayush and Vishal Kanth shared 1 wicket each. Vishal Kanth was adjudged as the man of the match.
In another match, Milchar Cricket Club thrashed Satisar Cricket Club by a big margin of 56 runs. Akash Raina was at his murderous best who scored 61 runs off just 32 balls, studded with 13 delectable boundaries, while skipper Rohit Bhat and Aman Zutshi contributed 18 and 15 runs to the total respectively. Akash, who scored second fifty of the tournament was in sublime touch, who also hit 5 fours in a particular over. Rahul took 3 wickets and Sahil Dhar claimed 2 wickets for Satisar Cricket Club.
In reply, Satisar Cricket Club bundled out for a paltry total of 89 runs. Sumit Bhat was the wrecker-in-chief, who captured 4 wickets in his 4 overs by conceding 19 runs, while Anubhav Tufchi took 3 wickets. Akash Raina was declared as the man of the match for his brilliant batting display.
The matches were officiated by BK Tickoo and Vijay Raina as umpires, while the tournament is being organised by Rajesh Dhar, Ankur Bagati and Ashish Kachroo.
Dr TK Moza was the chief guest on the occasion who presented man of the match award to Akash Raina.
