JAMMU, Apr 26: It was the day of skippers in Police Public Cricket Premier League (PPCPL) today, as Ahmer Ikhlaq and Inderjeet Singh bagged man of the match awards for the display of superb cricketing skill to take their respective sides home and defeating their rivals convincingly at GGM Science College, here today.
In the first match played today, BCC Bulls defeated JKP Tigers by 8 wickets and in another match, Jammu Khalsa Kings XI got better of Jammu Royal Choice XI by a narrow margin of 12 runs.
Shakeel Ahmed Beig, DIG Jammu was the chief guest on the occasion, who was accompanied by Rajnish Pran, SSP, SO to DIG Jammu and Randhir Singh, SP Hqrs. Jammu.
Speaking on the occasion, DIG said that the PPCPL is gaining exhilarated popularity day by day and the platform provided by K Rajendra Kumar, DGP J&K to the cricketers of Jammu and those from far-flung areas has been appreciated by one and all.
On the occasion, DIG Jammu distributed cash prizes and trophies among the winning teams and the outstanding players. The man of the match trophy, best catch trophy and best sixes trophy all went to Ahmer of BCC Bulls in the first match, while in the second match, Inderjeet bagged man of the match award, while the award for maximum sixes and best catch of the match went to Sahil Sharma and Ramdayal respectively.
Earlier, in the first match, JKP XI wining the toss and batting first scored 120 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. Siddarth Magotra top scored with 41 runs, while Rajesh Gill and Ashwani Bhat contributed 18 and 15 runs to the total respectively. Rompy Sharma and Saqib from BCC Bulls took 3 wickets each, while Amir Sofi claimed 2 wickets.
In reply, riding  on a superb innings of unbeaten 64 runs by Ahmer, BCC Bulls chased the target in 19.3 overs. Imran Haroon and Owais Shah contributed valuable 23 and 22 runs to the total respectively.
In another match, Jammu Khalsa Kings XI won the toss and elected to bat first. The team  scored a decent total of 143 runs, losing 8 wickets in the process. Openers Inderjeet Singh and Parveen Singh played superbly and scored 38 and 32 runs respectively. Shiv Dutt, Gagandeep Singh, Ankush Bandral and young Ayush Slathia of Jammu Royal Choice XI took 2 wickets each.  Ayush Singh, in particular was the pick of the bowlers, who was impressive to scalp 2 important wickets after a decent start by Jammu Khalsa Kings XI batsmen.
In reply, Jammu Royal Choice XI fell short of 12 runs, scoring 131 runs. A good and positive start by openers Pankaj Lada and Manish Dogra and herculean effort lower down the order by Sahil Sharma was not enough for Jammu Royal Choice XI to beat the rivals. Vijay Dogra, Manik Gupta and Soumay Jain took 2 wickets each for Jammu Khalsa Kings XI.
The matches were officiated by Sudhir Singh, Sadiq Hussain Malik, Saleem-ur-Rehman and JD Singh, while the proceedings of the prize distribution ceremony were conducted by Rajesh Dhar and RP Singh.
