Advisor honours players of World Deaf Judo C’ship

JAMMU, Nov 17: Advisor to the Lieutenant Governor, Farooq Khan, today felicitated Jammu and Kashmir players of bronze medal winning team of World Deaf Judo Championship held recently in Versailles, France during a grand felicitation function organized by J&K Samaj Kalyan Kendra.
Director School Education, Jammu, Dr Ravi Shankar Sharma, was the guest of honour on the occasion.
Advisor said that it was a pride moment for JKUT players to represent Jammu and Kashmir as well as India in the International level sports event and win medal for the nation. He said that the most joyous moment was the victory of Rakshinda Mahek who clinched bronze medal for India in team category along with other Judokas.
Advisor Khan was optimistic that the performance of these victorious players will inspire many to work hard in a total disciplined manner in the sports streams of their choice. He said that gGvernment is committed to facilitate the budding players of Jammu and Kashmir with requisite sports facilities and related support so that they shine in the world of sports.
He said that these specially abled players have exemplified that they do possess equal strength and stamina as compared to other players and can perform to the best for their country. ‘The Government has launched a slew of measures towards development and welfare of such players and it must be our prime concern to encourage these heroes at all levels to bring out their best’, he asserted.
On the occasion, Rakshanda Mahek and Vishal Khajuria were rewarded with a cash and mementos while Senior Coach of J&K Sports Council, Surjan Bhan, was also honoured with a shawl and memento. Others students who were also fecilitated included Vaishali Raina, Dheeraj Pandita, Sunil Kumar, Deepak Kumar and Deepti Pandit.
Earlier, President of School, K B Jandial, presented a detailed account of achievements and curriculum activities of the institution. He highlighted the history behind establishment of the school besides elaborating about their motive of running such kind of institutions for specially abled children.
