Advani, Kothari win in National Billiards & Snooker C’ship

KOLKATA, Jan 12: All the seeded players including defending champion Sourav Kothari and ace cueist Pankaj Advani had easy outings on the opening day of the senior billiards at the National Billiards & Snooker Championship here today.
Advani, a 12-time world champion, who is the defending champion in national snooker, registered 3-0 win against Subodh Lahiri of Uttar Pradesh. He scored the day’s highest break of 104 points in third game to seal the win.
The local favourite, Kothari outclassed S Shankar Rao of Andhra Pradesh in an identical 3-0 margin.
Another PSPB player Alok Kumar also had no difficulty beating Rakesh Pradhan of Odisha 3-0.
Kolkata-based Brijesh Damani of PSPB played two matches today and both he won convincingly.
In the first match, he beat Jharkhand’s Anseth Pareira 3-0, scoring two breaks of 75 and 68 in first two games.
Later in the day, he beat D Rajkumar of Karnataka 3-0. (PTI)
