JAMMU, Feb 11: Adil Reshi-led JKCA Orange team outplayed Paras Sharma-led JKCA Red by 4 wickets in the first match of the Quadrangular 50-Over Cricket Series, organized by Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) to pick the team for forthcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy at GGM Science College Hostel ground, here today.
The matches are being observed by the senior selectors of JKCA including Shiban Lal Trakroo, Shahid Parvez, Iqbal Shah and Tilak Singh.
Earlier, put into bat, JKCA Red rode on splendid knocks by stand-in skipper Paras Sharma and young Pranav Gupta and managed to score 205 runs in 41.1 overs. Paras led from the front and scored brilliant 60 runs off 66 balls, studded with 7delectable boundaries, while Pranav Gupta scored fabulous 56 off 70 deliveries with the help of 8 crispy boundaries. Both the batsmen hit shot with fluidity and grace. Wasim Raza and Manzoor Pandove contributed 23 and 22 runs to the total respectively. Vimarsh Kaw (3), Ahmad Banday (2), Mohsin Iqbal (3), Asif Khan (5), Sahil Sharma (7) and Rohit Sharma (7) fell cheaply.
For JKCA Orange, speedsters Vishwajeet Singh and Zahoor Sofi and left-arm spinner Abid Mushtaq shared 3 wickets each, while wrist spinner Deepak Singh Manhas claimed one wicket.
In reply, JKCA Orange reached the required target in 43.3 overs, losing 6 wickets in the process, thus won the match by 4 wickets. Skipper Adil top scored with unbeaten 42 off 43 balls, including 5 boundaries, while Sajad Sofi scored well made 37 runs off 50 balls with the help of 5 boundaries. Rohit Bhat and Ameek Khan contributed 25 runs each to the total, while Manish Dogra and Bandeep Singh chipped in with 24 and unbeaten 14 runs respectively. For JKCA Red, left-arm spinner Wasim Raza was pick of the bowlers, who took 3 wickets by conceding 25 runs in his 10 overs, while Manzoor Pandove and skipper Paras Sharma claimed one wicket each.
