JAMMU, Mar 27: Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Armed J&K, S M Sahai presented medals and trophies to the winners of competitions held in different disciplines during week-long ongoing Youth Promotional Sports Coaching Camp, here today.
The camp organized by J&K Police under its Civic Action Programme had commenced at Gulshan Ground Jammu on March 22, 2014.
An impressive Medal Presentation Ceremony was held at Gulshan Ground Jammu today to present medals to the winners of the Youth Promotional Sports Coaching Camp Boys Under-19 in Volleyball, Basketball, Handball, Football and Kabaddi events.
Mr Sahai who was also the Chairman of the organizing Committee of this event was the chief guest on the occasion.
The chief guest accompanied by organizing secretary of the event P R Manhas, IGP Armed/IR Jammu and other senior officers also distributed track suits to around 400 boys hailing from far-flung and down-trodden areas of the districts of Kathua, Samba, Poonch, Rajouri, Reasi, Doda, Udhampur, Kupwara, Ganderbal, Pampore, Jammu, Anantnag, Pulwam and Baramulla districts, which participated in the event.
District Baramulla secured first position in three events namely Handball, Football and Basketball.
The players of the District Ganderbal were declared overall best.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Sahai said that the Programme has proved quite useful for youth, as it has provided them a right platform to showcase their hidden talent.
He said that the main objective of introducing Youth Promotional Coaching Camp is to aware the Youth of far-flung areas about the significance of Sports of different disciplines for physical and mental fitness besides its multiple benefits in terms of seeking jobs in different public and private sectors.
The ADGP further disclosed that J&K Police is contemplating to operate small academies at far-flung areas of the State for nourishing the youth, besides carrying out different youth and public friendly activities under Civic Action Programme.
