SRINAGAR, Nov 15: Adfar Jaan emerged winner in the senior women category organised during the District level Carrom Championship by J&K State Carrom Association in association with Police Department at district police lines, here today.
Ahjaz Koul emerged winner in the senior men category, while, Waseem Bashur clinched the Under 18 title and Ilham bagged the Under 14 title.
In women’s category, Iram claimed the Under 18 trophy and Harmeet Kour bagged the Under 14 title.
During the prize distribution function, SSP Srinagar, Aashiq Hussain Bukhari, was the chief guest, who distributed prizes among the winners.
While speaking, SSP threw light on the importance of the sports in day-to-day life and impressed upon the youth to focus equally on studies alongwith sports for the better future.
Earlier, the championship was inaugurated by DIG, CKR, Afhead-ul-Mujtaba, who while speaking, insisted that these kind of competition develop the sportsmanship and provides opportunity to the State players to compete at national and international levels.
In the championship, large number of youth including the students of schools across Srinagar participated and strived hard to claim the title.
The championship competition was organised in three categories vis-à-vis senior category, Under 18 category and Under 14 category, in both segments of men and women.
