JAMMU, Apr 23: BCC Bulls and Kashmir Steel Warriors registered convincing wins in the ongoing “Police Public Cricket Premier League” (PPCPL), being organized by J&K Police, under its Civic action Programme at Science College Hostel Ground, here.
The league is being organized under the overall supervision of Director General of Police, J&K with the objective to provide platform to the players of far flung area and other cricketers of the State to feel the aroma of IPL.
In the first match, BCC Bulls defeated star-studded Simula Superstars by 43 runs in a low scoring match.
After winning the toss and batting first, BCC Bulls scored 105 runs in the allotted 20 overs. Satish was the top scorer with valuable 21 runs, while Ahmer contributed 17 runs to the total. From Simula Superstars, Hilal Rather, Hardeep Singh and Kuldeep took 2 wickets each, while Dhruv Mahajan and Amandeep Singh shared one wicket each.
In reply, Simula Superstars were bundled out for a paltry total of 62 runs in 15.5 overs. Dhruv (15) and Shashi (12) were the only batsmen to cross double figure mark. For BCC Bulls, Amir Sofi was the wrecker-in-chief, who took 5 important wickets, while Owais Shah took 2 wickets. Arif and Saqib shared 1 wicket each. Man of the match award of Rs 3000 was given to Amir Sofi, award for hitting most sixes of Rs 2000 was presented to Ahmer and the best catch award of Rs 1,000 was again given to Amir Sofi. Award of Rs 10,000 was also presented to the winning team.
In another match, Kashmir Steel Warriors defeated Chenab Tigers by a big margin of 47 runs. Kashmir Steel Warriors, while batting first scored a huge total of 175 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Abid Nabi played a brilliant innings of 67 runs, studded with 5 fours and 5 massive sixes, while Pranav Gupta (19) and Rahul Mussa (18) were the main scorers of Kashmir Steel Warriors.
From Chenab Tigers, Asif Rasool took 2 wickets, while Shafqat Baba, Abid Mushtaq, Adil Reshi, Raman Dutta and Zahid Mughal shared one wicket apiece.
In reply, Chenab Tigers collapsed at 127 runs in 18.4 overs, thus lost the match by 48 runs. Adil Reshi and Shafqat Baba contributed with 22 runs each. Nazir was the pick of the bowlers, who took 4 important wickets for Kashmir Steel Warriors, while Abid Nabi took 2 wickets. Rohit Sharma and Pranav Gupta claimed 1 wicket each. Man of the match of Rs 3000 went to Abid Nabi for his all-round performance, while the award for hitting maximum sixes also went to Abid and the award for best catch was bagged by Rohit Sharma. Cash award of Rs 10,000 was given to the winning team.
Danish Rana, IGP Jammu was the chief guest, while Shakeel Beig, DIG Jammu was the guest of honour.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Rajnish Pran SO to DIG Jammu, SP Hqrs Randhir Singh, Parshotam Sharma, Deputy Director Prosecution RPHQ and Rajesh Gill, organizing Secretary of PPCPL.
Speaking on the occasion, Danish Rana said that the game should be the winner, adding that the winning and losing hardly matters and what matters really is to participate in the event with a sportsman spirit.
“JKP Tigers will take on Banihal Knight Riders at 10 am, whereas the Jammu Royal Choice XI will face Kashmir Steel Warriors at 2 pm tomorrow,” informed Rajesh Gill.
