JAMMU, Aug 22: First-class cricketers Abid Nabi and Adil Reshi gave superb all-round performance to help their sides get the better of their rivals in the ongoing Jammu and Kashmir Corporate Premier League (JKCPL) at Government Higher Secondary School Ground, here today.
Earlier, in the first match, chasing a target of 134 runs set by Trumboo Panthers, Ahad Sultans rode on a swashbuckling knock of unbeaten 87 runs off 53 balls with 8 fours and 5 sixes by Abid Nabi to win the match easily by 10 wickets. Other opener Ulfat made unbeaten 40 runs off 33 balls, studded with 4 boundaries and one six. The duo sent the rival bowlers on a leather-hunt and scored the required runs in 13.3 overs. None of the bowlers from Trumboo Panthers could manage to claim any wicket.
Earlier, batting first, Trumboo Sultans scored a modest total of 134 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 7 wickets in the process. Imtiyaz was the top scorer with 45 runs including 5 fours and 3 sixes, while Zahid Dar and Imtiyaz Bhat contributed 20 and 16 runs to the total respectively. For Ahad Sultans, Abid Nabi and Asif took 2 wickets each, while Nazir claimed one. Abid Nabi was adjudged HDFC man of the match and TCI maximum sixes award.
In another match, Kehwah Kings defeated Khazir Royals by 7 wickets in an easy contest.
Batting first, Khazir Royals scored 141 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Aslam (28), Manzoor Gattu (23) and Jehangir (22) were the main contributors, while Adil Khalil and Imran Haroon also chipped in with 18 runs each. For Kehwa Kings, Ashraf bagged 3 wickets, skipper Adil Reshi took 2, while Pardeep Bali and Saqib Majeed claimed one wicket each.
In reply, Kehwah Kings scored the required runs in 18.4 overs by losing 3 wickets, thus won the match by 7 wickets. Adil Reshi top scored with 57 runs off 47 balls, while Arshid Khawaja Khawaja contributed 55 off 35 balls. Pardeep Bali also chipped in with well-made 21 runs off 17 balls. For Khazir Royals, Samiullah Beigh took 2 wickets, while Arshid Sheikh claimed one. Adil Reshi was declared HDFC man off the match.
