Sports meet commences

JAMMU, Mar 30: Week long annual sports meet commenced at Dogra College of Education here today.
On the occasion, Samar Dev Singh Charak, Secretary, Dogra Educational Trust, was the chief guest, who declared the annual sports meet open.
While speaking, Samar Dev Singh Charak stressed for imparting academic knowledge to the students. He also encouraged the students to participate in the sports activities for the overall development of their body vis-à-vis mentally and physically.
On the inaugural day of the meet, several exhibition matches in various disciplines including Kho-kho, three leg race, kabaddi, sack race, matka race, one leg race, crocodile race and tug of war were played, in which students including both boys and girls took part actively.
Earlier, Sumer Singh, Convener Sports Committee presented the welcome address.
Among others present were Prof BD Damral, Director of the college, Prof VK Kapoor, Director cum Principal, Dogra Law College, SL Kotwal, Principal, DIET and Bela Thakur, Academic Director, Dogra College of Education.
