JAMMU, Feb 22: To celebrate the Birth Anniversary of Lord Baden Powell, the founder of Scouting and Guiding Movement World-Wide, the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, Jammu observed Thinking Day cum Founders’ Day at KV No 1 Gandhi Nagar, here today.
Over 300 Clubs, Bulbuls, Club Masters and Bulbul Flock Leaders attended the programme.
The students took keen interest in the Utsav and participated in different activities like On the Spot Painting, Poem Recitation and Story Telling Competition.
BL Morodia, Officiating Deputy Commissioner, KVS Jammu was the chief guest on the occasion.
Students conducted a cultural programme which included items like welcome songs and group dances etc.
Earlier, Shashi Prabha, Guide Captain of KV No 1 Jammu presented welcome address and threw light on the importance of such celebrations.
Speaking on the occasion, chief guest said that the activities of such nature provide ample opportunity to children to explore their talent and learn things from others.
In Painting Competition, Akansha Bhat, KV Damana, Shivani KV No 1, Jammu and Mansa KV No 1 Jammu bagged first three places respectively, while the consolation prize went to Arvind of KV No 1 Jammu.
Tanisha, KV Miran Sahib, Nandita, KV Damana and Nikhil KV No 2 Jammu claimed first three positions in Story Telling Competition respectively, while the consolation prize in this event went to Khayati of KV Bantalab, Jammu.
In Poem Recitation Competition, Muskan of KV Sinjawan got first place, Jeevika of KV Bantalab bagged second, while the third place in the event went to Avantika of KV Damana. Aparna of KV Sunjuwan got the consolation prize.
Jang S Verman, Coordinator for Regional Level Activities of Bharat Scouts and Guides presented vote of thanks.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Dr Chitra Mishra, District Chief Commissioner and venue Principal, Anju Jamwal, Nimi Koul, Sanjay Nagar, Romi Amrit and JK Dhiman.
