JAMMU, May 28: Outplaying their rivals convincingly in the semifinals, Dr Sandeep Arya and Vikas Karlopia sealed berth in the finals and will take on each other in the summit clash of the ongoing Jammu University Employees Tournaments in Table Tennis, Carrom and Badminton, organized by the Campus Sports Committee of the University of Jammu at the Gymnasium Hall of the Directorate of Sports & Physical Education, Jammu University, here.
Dr Sandeep drubbed S. Gagandeep Singh by 2-0 in the first semifinal, while in the second semifinal, Vikas Karlopia defeated Vinay Manhas by 2-0.
Earlier, in Badminton men quarterfinal matches, Dr Sandeep Arya beat Vishal Sudan by 2-0, S. Gagandeep Singh trounced Prekshat Dev Singh by 2-0, Vinay Manhas got the better of Pawan Singh by 2-0 and Vikas Karlopia outclassed Abhinav Sharma by 2-0.
In Badminton (Men) doubles, the pair of Rajesh and Varun defeated the duo of Abhinav and Niranjan Singh by 2-1 and the duo of Vikas Karlopia and Vinay Manhas beat Pawan Singh and S. Gurnmeet Singh by 2-0.
In Carrom (Men) quarterfinals, Deepak Anand beat Sudesh Kumar, Vishal Sharma outplayed Niranjan Singh, Naresh Sharma drubbed Abhinav Sharma and Prof PVKS Baba beat Vinod Bali.
In Carrom (Men) doubles, Joginder Singh Chib and Naresh Kumar beat Abhinav and Varun Sawhney, Vishal Sudan and Gagandeep Singh defeated Niranjan and Gursharan Singh and S. Gurmeet Singh and Rajesh trounced Pardeep Kumar and Vishal Sharma.
The matches were officiated by Ravish Vaid, Gagan Kumar, Varun Gupta, Sanjeev Sharma, Ankit Sharma, Tarvinder Pal Singh, Jeevan Lal and Rishav Sharma.
The tournament is being organized by Chairperson, Campus Sports Committee Prof Neeru Shama, under the overall supervision of Dr Daud Iqbal Baba, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education and Incharge PTI Campus, Raj Kumar Bakshi.
