JAMMU, Dec 17: After gaining a big lead of 121 runs in the first innings, Himachal Pradesh were in driving seat and in sight of a comfortable victory as J&K were 51/1 in their second essay, bundling out for paltry 109 runs in the first innings, thus trailing by 170 runs in the match of Vijay Merchant Under-16 Cricket Tournament, being played at Dharamsala in Himachal Pradesh.
Earlier, Himachal Pradesh resumed their innings at 281/9 and the last pair added valuable 49 runs to their overnight score and made 330 runs in their first innings. Abhishek Thakur was the top scorer with 76 runs, while Arshad M Dhiman, Himanshu S Beck and Rishi V Mahajan scored 58, 55 and 51 runs to the total respectively. For J&K, medium pace bowler, Dhruv V Gupta took 3 wickets, while Abhay Tandon and Nityam Abrol bagged 2 wickets each. Mohammad Yawar, Suhaib Majeed and Affan claimed one wicket each.
In reply, J&K scored 109 runs in the first innings, thus conceded a lead of 221 runs. Suhaib Majeed top scored with 31 runs, while Musaif Ajaz contributed 24 runs to the total. For HP, Himanshu bagged 3 wickets, while Rishi Mahajan, Rahul Kumar and Sahil Kumar claimed 2 wickets each.
In second essay, J&K were 51/1 when the stumps were drawn on day-2 today. Musaif on (41) and Ibrahim Umran (5) were at the crease. Yuvraj Saini was the only man to be dismissed for naught.
