JAMMU, Nov 28: Jayesh Singh got the better of Sandeep Khadotra by 3-0 in the summit clash to lift the men’s singles title of the ongoing 39th Stag J&K State Table Tennis Championship which concluded at MA Stadium, here today.
Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) and Tribal Affairs, Choudhary Zulfkar Ali was the chief guest on the concluding function, who felicitated meritorious players of the championship.
The championship was organized by J&K Table Tennis Association in which 250 players of various age groups from all districts of J&K participated and showcased their talent.
On the occasion, the Minister said that the state has no dearth of talent and such events unveil the hidden potential of young aspirants of the state. He also suggested the sports aspirants to put in their mind in sports and work with dedication to achieve their goal.
Moreover, the Minister said that participation in sports activities is must for overall development and stressed on the winning players work hard for the upcoming national level tournaments.
The Minister was accompanied by the Chief Sports Officer, Abdul Qayoom, Sports Officer Ravi Singh, Joint Secretary Kashmir Sports Council, Nazir Ahmad and other concerned officials.
Earlier, in men’s semifinals, Jayesh Singh defeated Ritvik Gupta 3-1 and Sandeep Khadotra got the better of Vasu Dewan 3-2.
In Under-12 Cadet Boys final, Sourav beat Rohan Langar by 3-1, while in Under-12 Cadet Girls final, Iknoor drubbed Ragini by 3-0 and in Sub Junior boys final, Saksham drubbed Hanumant Sharma by 3-2.
In Sub Junior Girls final, Iknoor beat Suhani by 3-1, while in Junior Boys final, Ritvik defeated Ketan by 3-2.
In Junior Girls final, Iknoor trounced Shreya by 3-1, while in Youth Boys final, Ritvik thrashed Asad by 3-0.
In Women’s final, Shreya got the better of Surbhi Charak 3-0, while in Veteran men’s singles, Anuj Verma prevailed over Mahesh Khajuria by 3-0.
The matches were officiated by Narinder Kour (SAI coach), Sandeep Khadotra (NIS Table Tennis coach), Meenu Rajesh and Asad Sharma (Coach).
