Kanahaiya, Mujtaba represent North Zone; NZ drubs SZ by 5 wkts

JAMMU, June 21: After being part of month-long Zonal Cricket Academy (ZCA) Camp, promising youngsters Kanahaiya Wadhawan and Mujtaba Yousuf have been selected in the North Zone Under-16 Cricket team for Inter Zonal Cricket Tournament, being organized by Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
In the first match of the Inter Zonal Tournament, played at Hyderabad, North Zone defeated South Zone in a rain-hit 2-day match by 5 wickets.
Batting first, South Zone scored 167 runs in the first innings. Tilak Verma was the top scorer with 57 runs. For North Zone, Anshul Kamboj was the wrecker-in-chief, who scalped 6 important wickets, while Mujtaba Yousuf bagged 2 wickets.
In reply, North Zone chased the target by losing 5 wickets, thus won the match by 5 wickets. Skipper Anmol Sharma top scored with 60 runs, while Sidharth Mehta and wicketkeeper batsman Kanahaiya Wadhawan contributed unbeaten 45 and 20 runs to the total respectively.
