Udhampur, June 18: Wrestler Abdul Gani of Mallerkotla, Punjab defeated Wrestler Binda Bishhanpuria of Kapurthala, Punjab and lifted the title trophy of the 112th Annual Thial-Chougan wrestling competition held at Government Middle School Sunal, Block Khoon, Tehsil Majalta, District Udhampur.
Winner wrestler Abdul Gani was awarded cash prize of Rs 40,000 along with traditional Gurj (Gada) by chief guest BJP senior leader Nand Kishore Sharma in presence of President J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association Shiv Kumar Sharma and Krishan Kumar, President, Dangal Committee Thial Chougan while runner-up wrestler Binda was awarded cash prize of Rs 25,000 by President, District Udhampur Indian Style Wrestling Association Sunil Badyal, Ved Parkash Tehsildar and Kartar Chand, Secretary Dangal Committee. SSP Udhampur Rayees Mohammad Bhat, Tehsildar Majalta Ved Parkash, and SHO Majalta Sajad Haider were also present on the occasion.
The bouts played between Farooq of Sarore and Sachin of Delhi and Ishaq Ahmed (Lallu) of Bajrangi Akhara Jammu and Inder Paul of Amritsar ended in draw.
