Saksham drubs Akhilesh to win Sub Jr boys title

jammu, Apr 23: Outplaying Akhilesh by 11-7, 8-11, 11-8 and 11-9 in the summit clash, Saksham claimed Sub Junior Boys title on day-3 of the ongoing 1st Kartar Singh Memorial Open Table Tennis Championship at Stag Table Tennis Academy, Nanak Nagar, here.
Former junior boys doubles National Champion, Sub Junior National runners-up and part of the team that won World’s Juniors Championship, Satbir Singh visited the Academy alongwith national rnked players namely Sanjay Wahi and Dr Dharminder Magotra and interacted with the players on the occasion.
Earlier, in Junior Boys Under-17 semifinals, Ritvik got better of Maanay (11-9, 11-8,11-9) and Saksham defeated Mahi Kallu (11-9,11-9, 11-7) to seal berth in the finals, while in men’s singles semifinals, Sandeep Kumar toppled Sandeep Khandotra, while Sandeep Singh prevailed over Ritvik.
In men’s doubles semifinals, Sandeep Kumar and Asad defeted Dr Prabjot and IP Singh, while Sandeep Singh and Sandeep Khandotra trounced Aman and Anuj.
In Sub Junior girls final, Iknoor drubbed Hargun 11-7, 11-6.
The matches are being conducted under the supervision of Ramesh Magotra, Table Tennis Coach, Sandeep and Menu.
In tomorrow’s fixture, the final matches in men’s singles, mixed doubles and cadet boys will be played in presence of the chief guest at 5:30 pm.
