SSP Jammu inaugurates 5th Baisakhi Cricket Premier League

JAMMU, Apr 13: Road Safety XI and JK Sports Promoters Club registered emphatic wins on the inaugural day of   “5th Baisakhi Cricket Premier League which got underway at Parade ground, here today.
The League on the occasion of Baisakhi is being organized by J&K Sports Promoters Club in collaboration with District Police Jammu.
The objective of the League is to promote communal harmony and brotherhood among the masses and the slogan of the league is “Lets’ celebrate Baisakhi together through T20 Sport”.
The organizing committee members include  RK Bhat, Ranjeet Kalra, Hilal Rather, Rajesh Dhar, Adv. PS Parmar, Umesh, Sudhir Singh, Saleem Ur Rehman, Anand Tripathi, Sadiq Hussain and  Madan Mohan, while  Rajesh Gill, former Ranji Trophy Player is the coordinator of the event.
The sponsor of the Premier League are Shukeel Gupta & Co. and Lep Sqad Co.
In the inaugural function, SSP Jammu Dr Sunil Gupta was the Chief Guest, while  Dr Vinod Kumar, SP City and SSP RK Bhat were the guests of honour.
Vijay Saberwal, President Pararde Sports Association and Mohan Lal Chouhan, President Friends Club were also present on the occasion.
While speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest lavished all praise for the J&K Sports Promoters Club for conducting Cricket Premier League on the occasion of Baisakhi with the objective to promote communal harmony and brotherhood among the masses through sports.
He further said that the District Police Jammu is always ready to help the J&K Sports Promoters Club for their sports events which are being organized regularly on special occasions for the youths of the state.
Earlier, Rajesh Gill, Coordinator of the event presented welcome address and apprised the Chief Guest about the activities and achievements of J&K Sports Promoters Club.
Earlier, in the first match Road Safety XI defeated Ahsaan Cricket Club by 90 runs.
Batting first, Road Safety XI scored 215 runs in 20 overs. Yasir top scored with 96 runs, including 9 fours and 7 sixes, while Imtiaz made 63 runs with 9 boundaries and 1 six. Pankaj Lada also contributed 27 runs to the total.
From bowling side, Imtiaz took 2 wickets, while Asif claimed 1 wicket.
In reply, Ahsaan Cricket Club made 125 runs in 15.3 overs with Wasim 34 runs, Rayees 30 and Ajaz 12 runs, thus lost the match by 90 runs.
From Road Safety, Ubaid took 4 wickets, while RK Bhat, Ayush and Dilip took 2 wickets each.
Yasir was declared as man of match.
In another match JK Sports Promoters Club defeated Jammu Media XI Cricket Club by 72 runs.
Batting first, JK Sports Promoters Club scored 200 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.
Samad was the main scorer who made 84 runs with 12 fours and 2 sixes, while Sachin scored 54 runs with 5 fours and 3 sixes. Yogesh also contributed 23 runs to the total.
From bowling side, Nitin, Vivek, Sunil and Amit took 1 wicket each.
In reply, Jammu Media XI managed to score 128 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs. Amit Kumar (32), Rahul (28) and Ashu (11) were the main scorers.
Shamsher Singh and Bhalwan took 2 wickets each while Praful Dhar and Vishal shared 1 wicket each for JK Sports Promoters Club.
Samad was declared as man of the match for his brilliant knock.
The matches were officiated by Sadiq Hussain, Sandeep Manchanda, Sanjay, Rajeev and Vinod.
