District Reasi dominates Fencing Competition

JAMMU, Oct  8: The fencers of District Reasi swept medals in the Fencing Competition of the Divisional Level Inter-District Tournament in the disciplines of fencing, football and badminton in various age groups boys and girls, which got underway at different grounds, here today.
The Competitions are being organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports under the overall supervision of  Ashok Kumar, Deputy Director Youth Services and Sports, Jammu.
Earlier, Dr Swaran Singh Chib, District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Reasi declared the fencing and badminton competition open in a well attended function, while the football event was inaugurated by Tirath Ram, District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Jammu.
Meanwhile, in foil Under-14 girls, Bharti of Reasi District claimed gold, while Shaheen and Vidushi of the same district bagged silver and bronze medal respectively. The other bronze medal in this event went to Neha of Reasi.
In sabre Under-14 girls, Koeffika Kofi of Reasi won gold,    Bhargavi of Jammu claimed silver, while Himani and Shivanshi of Reasi bagged bronze medals in this event.
In Epee Under-14 boys Rakesh of Udhampur  bagged gold, Vikas of Reasi won silver, while the bronze medals went to Abhishek of Reasi and Ankush of Udhampur, while in Sabre Under-14 boys, the gold went to Vishaw of Reasi, silver to Nikhil of the same district, Udhampur boys-Umesh and Himanshu claimed bronze medals respectively.
In all 126 boys drawn from seven districts of Jammu Division namely Rajouri, Jammu, Kathua, Samba, Udhampur, Poonch and Kishtwar are taking part in the Tournament.
Moreover, 100 boys and 50 girls drawn from  three districts of Reasi, Udhampur and Jammu are taking part in the Fencing Competitions.
Other results:
Football Under-19 boys; Udhampur beat Kathua by (4-1) goals. Animash Bakshi scored 2 goals For Udhampur, while Lalit Verma netted 1goal for Kathua.
Samba blanked Poonch by 5-0 goals in a one sided contest. Mohit of remained top scorer with 2 goals, while Amandeep, Anubhav and Vikas scored 1 goal each respectively.
BADMINTON:
U-17 boys; Poonch defeated Kishtwar by 2-0. Gorav beat Dheeraj by 21-19, 21-8, while Asib prevailed upon Sarabpreet by 21-14, 16-21, 21-11.
In another match, Jammu got better of Udhampur by 2-0. Divam trounced Dhananjay by 21-9,21-18, while Lalin  and Parth drubbed Dhananjay and Manpreet by 21-9,21-13.
U-17 girls; Udhampur outplayed Kishtwar by 2-0. Shefalika beat Stanzin Dolma by 21-14,21-9, while Shefalika and  Malti outclassed Priya  and Stanzin by 21-18, 21-13.
U-14 boys; Udhampur trounced Poonch by 2-0. Harsh beat Shahbaz Ali by 21-12, 21-10, while
Harsh and Gorav defeated Mohd Sameen  and Rajat Puri by 21-9, 21-9.
