J&K team brings laurels to State, wins second runner-up position in Sanda event

JAMMU, Oct 7: J&K Wushu team brought laurels to the State by winning the second runner-up position in the Sanda event, organised during Wushu Federation Cup held at Punjabi University Patiala.
Nine men and two women qualified for the Federation Cup during the 24th Senior National Wushu Championship held at Chandigarh.
J&K Wushu team secured 2 Gold, 4 Silver and 2 Bronze medals in the Federation Cup. The Manipur team remained on the top slot followed by Delhi.
The Gold medals were clinched by Pankaj Raina and Abhishek Jamwal, while the Silver medals were pocketed by Sahil Bhau, Kanchan, Heena and Chander Dev. The Bronze medals were secured by Raman Sharma and Aman.
During the felicitation function, Working President Vijay Saraf, Ranjeet Kalra, Deepak Handa and Sunil Sharma, Vice presidents and Kuldeep Handoo, Chief Coach of India were present.
The office bearers of Wushu Association of J&K congratulated the team and the coaches for their excellent performance in the Federation cup.
They also appealed to Minister for Sports and Secretary J&K State Sports Council for due consideration to this sports, as this sports has no infrastructure in both the provinces. Moreover this sport has given the medals in the World and Asian Championships as well.
Moreover for the forthcoming Asian Games in 2018, Wushu Association of J&K has already submitted action plan to JKSSC.
The team was accompanied by the Kamal Kishore, International Medalists and Kalyani, SAI Coach as team coaches.
