JAMMU, Aug 29: Abhishek Pathania outclassed Abhi Gupta in the summit clash by straight 4-0 frames and lifted the title trophy of the 1st Jammu District Open 6 Red Ball Championship, being organized by Jammu and Kashmir Billiards and Snooker Association at Billiards Hall, MA Stadium, here today.
In the first frame, Abhishek registered win over Abhi by 48-12 and again won the second frame by 32-20. Abhi sweated well to win the match but could not and lost the third frame also by 32-17. in the fourth and decider frame, Abhishek with his skills registered win in the fourth frame by 29-20 and won the title trophy.
Meanwhile, Pankaj, Sanand Sharma, Akhil Gupta and Abhik Bhat smashed rivals in their respective matches and entered into the semifinals of the ongoing Sub Junior District Snooker Championship, being organized by JKBSA at same venue.
Pankaj crushed Bashit Wani by straight 2-0 frames (56-36 and 70-41) in the first quarterfinal, whereas in the second quarterfinal Sanand Sharma beat Umar Sheikh by 2-1 frames. In the first frame, Sanand registered win by 54-50, while Umar equalized the game by winning the second frame by 60-27. In the decider frame, Sanand smashed Umar by 80-45 and entered into the semis of the tournament.
In the third quarterfinal match, Akhil Gupta outplayed Varun Kumar by straight 2-0 frames (58-20 and 73-29) and advanced to the semifinal stage of the tourney, while in the fourth quarterfinal, Abhik Bhat crushed Shubham Singh by 2-0 frames (55-21 and 62-35).
According to spokesperson of JKBSA, District Junior Snooker Championship will commence at same venue tomorrow.
