Inter College Table Tennis Tourney begins at JU

JAMMU, Aug 29: GDC Kathua, GCW Udhampur, GCW Kathua, SPMR College of Commerce and MIET College outclassed rivals in their respective matches and qualified for the next round of the Inter-Collegiate Table Tennis Tournament in men and women categories, which commenced today at Gymnasium Hall, University of Jammu.
In the first match in women section, GDC Kathua beat SPMR College of Commerce by 3-2, while in the second match, GCW Udhampur defeated ASCOMS by straight 3-0 frames. GCW Kathua got walkover from MAM College, Jammu.
In the first match in men section, SPMR College of Commerce beat ASCOMS by straight 3-0, while in the second match, MIET College registered win over GDC Kathua by 3-2 sets.
The matches were officiated by Ravish Vaid, Gourav Sharma, Kumar Tarun, Rakha Ratra, Sandeep Khadotra and Amit Sharma.
Earlier, Prof Avtar Singh Jasrotia, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu inaugurated the tournament and advised all the participants to observe strict discipline in all aspects of game while playing in the tournament.
Among others present were Prof Sumit Dubey from GDC Kathua, Pradeep  Kumar from GCW Kathua, Raj Kumar from ASCOMS, Vikas Karlopia, Gagan Kumar, Jai Bharat, Raj Kumar Bakshi,  Ravinder Singh and Romesh  Sharma.
The Tournament is being organized by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu.
