Gunning for title, passionate Abhishek enters final by outplaying Vidit

JAMMU, June 23: Gunning for the title, passionate Cueist Abhishek Pathania outplayed Cueist Vidit Gawri in the first semifinal here today and entered in the finals of the ongoing Open J&K State Six Red Ball Prize Money Tournament, being organized by the J&K Billiards and Snooker Association at Billiards Hall, MA Stadium.
Abhishek left the spectators spellbound with his prolific play and indisputable mastery, demolishing Vidit by 4-3 frames in the first semifinal.
With a confidence boosting semifinal victory against compatriot Vidit to book his spot in the finals and coming closer to winning the Six Red Ball Tournament title, Abhishek clearly walked to the table with the utmost poise winning the first frame by 51-21.
Passionate Abhishek raised the lead by 2-0 after wining the second frame high by 36-00. Abhishek held his nerve to make it 3-0, but Vidit wasn’t done yet.
Abhishek’s march was halted by Vidit when he pulled back next two frames by 33-10 and 35-09 to give the Cueist Abhishek a taste of his own medicine.
As the match got equalized with 2-2 frames, Vidit again looked unstoppable against his talented opponent Abhishek and cleared the table by 35-18 in the fifth frame.
With Vidit leading the match 3-2 at the end of fifth frame, Abhishek dug deep into his reservoir of experience to finish the sixth frame by 46-00.
By the seventh and deciding frame, the match was extremely close as Vidit and Abhishek after facing ups and downs in the previous six fames, equalized the game by 3-3.
Cueist Abhishek made a good start in the seventh frame, which was equally countered by Vidit. Finally, with his magnificent skills, Abhishek proved that the champion makes his own luck by winning the game 46-15.
By winning the game, Cueist Abhishek became the first finalist of the Open J&K State Six Red Ball Prize Money Tournament.
The second semifinal to be played tomorrow will also be the high velocity game as Jaideep Manocha and Ishuk Chowdhary are well trained and experienced Cueists.
