DIC organises debate on ‘Role and status of women in our society’

RAMBAN, Mar 9: The District Information Centre, Ramban organized a debate competition on the ‘Role and status of woman in society’ at Government High School, Kanga, here today.
The Head Master of the school, Mohd Khalil Bhat was the chief guest whereas Head Master, Government Middle School, Dhramkund, Mohd Muzamil presided over the function and journalist Tahir Mustaq was the guest of honour.
Mohd Sami, 7th class of Dharmkund was adjudged overall best while Shushma Devi, 8th from same school and Anaytullah, 10th class of GHS Kanga secured 2nd and 3rd positions respectively. As many as ten students of different classes from both the schools participated in the competition and spoke on the topic.
Appreciating the role of Department of Information and Public Relations, J&K, the chief guest,Bhat emphasised on the education of women and said that the standard and future of a society, country or a community could be assessed by the level of education of its women folk.
An enthralling cultural programme of singing and poetry was also presented by the local artists and students on the occasion.
Later, the commendation certificates and trophies were given away to the best performers of the competition by the dignitaries.
