JAMMU, Dec 18: State vice president BJP and MLA Jammu West, Sat Sharma (CA) felicitated two gymnasts from Hari Nagar and NITCO lane area of Jammu West who represented the State at National level and also represented the nation at International level.
The girls namely Mitali Dogra and Ruhi were felicitated by the MLA in the presence of parents of the girls and scores of people hailing from the area which also included social and political activists as well.
Addressing the media persons, Sat Sharma said that it is a great moment for us that both girls hailing from Jammu West have not only made the State proud but whole nation is proud of them. He said Mitali who represented India at Common Wealth Games in 2014 at Glasgow and many events including Olympics won the Gold medal and Ruhi who represented the sports and is still playing for the State won the Silver medal.
He said under the guidance of their supportive parents and teachers, both the players have excelled to great heights and they have also become an inspiration for other girls and sports players as well who are representing the State and Nation at some level. He also thanked the Chief Minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed for felicitating the sports persons with the cash prizes and mementos at a function held few days back.
He also advised the youth of Jammu and Kashmir to take active part in the activities pertaining to sports and asked them to stay away from ills of society including the menace of drugs which has spoiled careers of many youth in many parts of the country. He stated that youth is the backbone of the country and besides falling in a bad company, the youth must be focused upon keeping his mind, body and soul fit by actively participating in various sports.
Madhu Bala, Darshana Kumari, Vijay Kumar, Aryan, Rahul, Rajan, District president BJP Ayodhya Gupta, Deepak Kumar, Puneet Gupta, SK Gupta, Mangal Jyoti, Kuldeep Raj, Ashok Gupta, Atul Bakshi, Darshna Devi, Rahul and Ankush Sharma were also present in the felicitation programme.
