POONCH, Dec 4: Four days District Police Poonch Sports Meet concluded in colourful function organized by District Police Poonch at DPL Ground, here. During the event, 8 teams drawn from different Police Stations and other establishments namely Poonch Panthers, DPL Warriors, SOG Fighters, Loran Legends, Mandi Knights, Surankote Blasters, Gursai Devils and Mendhar Tigers participated in Football, Volleyball, Kabaddi, Cricket, Table Tennis, Badminton and Chess.
In the football event, final was held between Poonch Panthers and SOG fighters which was won by Poonch Panthers by a solitary goal (1-0).
Jatinder Raina was declared man of the series. The cricket final was played between SOG fighters and Surankote Blaster which was won by SOG Fighters by five wickets.
The Kabaddi final was held between Poonch Panthers and DPL Warriors which was won by Poonch panthers by score of (36-23). Mohd, Azam was adjudged as the man of series in this event. Chess was won by Mujeeb- Ul- Rehman, DySP Hqrs. Poonch who defeated Amit Gupta, Additional SP Poonch in the final. Badminton singles was won by Sagar Singh Slathia who defeated Jatinder Raina by score of (21-15, 21-18). Amit Gupta ASP Poonch won third place in the event. The Championship trophy was won by SOG Fighters and Poonch Panthers remained runners-up. Painting competition was also held between the kids of police personnel in two categories.
In the category of 1st to 4th class, Naseer Manhas of Class 2nd won first place, while Squib Naseer Manhas of Class 4th and Shafaqat Anjum of Class 3rd claimed second and third place respectively, while in painting competition from 5th to 8th classes, Shahid Sheikh of Class 8th, Mavgoob Ali of Class 5th and Saniya Naaz of Class 3rd won first, second and third place respectively.
The concluding function was attended by MA Malik, Deputy Commissioner Poonch as the chief guest and Brigadier MS Brar 93 Brigade was the guest of honour who distributed prizes among the winning teams.
SSP Poonch, JS Johar while speaking on the occasion highlighted the role of such events in order to inculcate competitive spirit among the youth.
