JAMMU, Oct 28: Seven-teenth J&K State Sub Junior (Kyorugi/ Poomsae) Taekwondo Championship and 9th Open J&K State Cadet, Junior and Senior (Kyorugi/ Poomsae) Taekwondo Championship, being organized by Jammu and Kashmir Taekwondo Association got underway at Multipurpose Hall M A Stadium, here today.
The Championship is being held under the aegis of Taekwondo Federation of India, recognized by Jammu and Kashmir Olympic Association, India Olympics Association and Ministry of Youth affairs and Sports, Govt of India.
Around 300 players/officials drawn from all-over the State are participating in this Championship.
The Championship began with the demonstration of Taekwondo skills by young boys and girls of different institutions.
Shiv Kumar Sharma, Joint Secretary J&K State Sports Council was the chief guest on the occasion, while PC Sharma, president JKTA and DN Pangotra, general secretary JKTA were the guests of honour. Amit Dutta, Vikas Gupta and Vikas Abrol were the special guests.
The technical team is being headed by Atul Pangotra, NIS(International Referee) State Awardee and Sher-e-Kashmir Awardee with his team of officials including Vikas Sharma, Sanjay Kumar, Rajat Thakur, Mukta Gupta, Arvind Kumar Satti, Rohit Sharma, Rajan Sharma , Burhan-ud-Din, Narinder Sharma, Nitish Anand ,Vipan Sharma and Pankaj Kumar.
The opening ceremony was presided over by Rajinder Singh.
In Sub Junior girls under-20 kg, Stakshi Sharma won gold, Ujwal Manyal bagged silver, while bronze medal was shared by Prathana Baru and Aanchal Singh.
In Sub Junior boys under-38 kg, Kushgra Sharma clinched gold, Hardik won silver and the bronze medal was shared by Deevesh Arora and Varun Kumar.
