udhampur, Mar 27: A colourful cultural programme by the students of National Academy High School, marked the conclusion of IMF Metro Programme at Udhampur.
The 2-day programme was organized by IMF North Zone Committee, New Delhi in collaboration with Tawi Trekkers J&K and active cooperation by National Academy High School, Udhampur.
On the first day a seminar on ‘Promotion of Adventure’ was held at Saigal Hall, Abhinav Theatre, Jammu.
Ajay Khajuria, Registrar, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University and ex. Director, Tourism Jammu and Dr. Poonam Sharma of Jammu Central University were the main speakers who gave very thought provoking and valuable suggestions on the topic. Dr Ashutosh Sharma, General Secretary, J&K Olympic Association also expressed his views on the subject. The event was presided over by S Bhattacharjee, Chairman of IMF North Zone committee, New Delhi.
On the concluding day the programme commenced with the conduct of a quiz competition on Mountaineering/Himalaya at National Academy High School, Udhampur.
During the competition, the organizers were pleasantly surprised to see the knowledge of the participating students from various local schools on the topic.
After a tough competition team B of National Academy High School comprising of Karmanya Gupta,Javed Iqbal and Shruti emerged victorious after the 4th round. Team-A of Aryan Oriental Convent Higher Secondary School comprising Renu Sharma, Sadia Mustaffa Bhat and Rohit Sharma and Team- D of National Academy High School comprising Adil Hussain, Lokinder Singh and Smilee Sharma which secured the same points were declared joint runners up.
In the Painting and Sport Climbing Competitions that followed the students of National Academy, which has a small artificial climbing Wall also, swept all the positions.
In the end, S Bhattacharjee, Chairman, IMF North Zone Committee distributed trophies, mementoes and cash prizes among the winners of various competitions.
While addressing the students and teachers he expressed his gratitude to the management of National Academy High School, Udhampur for the help and cooperation extended in smooth conduct of the programme.
He said, Tawi Trekkers J&K in coordination with IMF North Zone Committee will organize another such programme next month.
