UDHAMPUR, June 5: The District Level Inter-Zonal tournaments for girls in Under-14 and Under-17 age groups concluded today at Subash Stadium Udhampur with enthusiastic participation from across the district. A total of 229 girl participants from various zones showcased their talent in Volleyball, Taekwondo, Boxing and Cricket trials under the supervision of Jaswinder Singh, I/C Activity, DYSSO Udhampur.
In Volleyball Under-14 category, Zone Ramnagar emerged as the winner while Zone Ghordi finished as runner-up. In the Under-17 category, Zone Ramnagar again displayed strong performance and clinched the title, whereas Zone Udhampur secured the runner-up position.
In Taekwondo Under-14 girls category, Arti Devi (Zone Jib) secured first position in 24 Kg weight category, followed by Babli Devi (Zone Jib) in 26 Kg category and Seerat Choudhary (Zone Udhampur) in 32 Kg category.
In Taekwondo Under-17 girls category, Manvi Arya (Zone Udhampur) won in 32 Kg category, Purbhi Sharma (Zone Jib) secured top position in 35 Kg category and Mahi Devi (Zone Jib) stood first in 38 Kg category.
In Boxing Under-17 girls category, Meenakshi Devi (Zone Chenani) won in 42-44 Kg category, Mohini (Zone Udhampur) secured first position in 44-46 Kg category, while Neelam Devi (Zone Udhampur) clinched top spot in 50-52 Kg category.
Cricket trials for Under-14 and Under-17 girls were also conducted to identify talent for higher-level competitions. Jaswinder Singh congratulated the winners and participants and appreciated the efforts of officials, coaches and volunteers. Selected athletes will represent District Udhampur at the divisional level tournaments.
