JAMMU, May 10: Ishaan Chowdhary and Avni Sharma emerged winners in the VCA 2nd Open Jammu Under-17 Boys and Girls Chess Tournament organised under the aegis of the All Jammu and Kashmir Chess Association and conducted as per FIDE Laws of Chess.
Ishaan remained unbeaten throughout the seven-round event and secured six points to clinch the Under-17 boys’ title, while Avni secured the girls’ crown with five points. In the Under-11 category, Triyansh Verma won the boys’ title and Manushree Nischal bagged the girls’ title, both finishing with four points each.
Cash prizes worth Rs 3,000 along with trophies were awarded to the winners. The event witnessed keen competition and enthusiastic participation from young chess players across Jammu region.
