JAMMU, May 8: The Outreach Department of Indian Institute of Technology Jammu organized an educational visit for 92 students of Classes XI and XII from Aryan Public School along with their escorts, offering them firsthand exposure to advanced scientific and research facilities on campus.
The initiative aimed to nurture scientific curiosity among young learners and familiarize them with academic and research environments at an early stage. The programme was conducted under the guidance of Prof Manoj Singh Gaur, Director IIT Jammu, Prof Meenakshi Rajeev, Dean Outreach and Dr Sameer K S P, Associate Dean Outreach.
During the visit, students toured several laboratories and technical facilities across the institute. In the Chemistry Laboratory, Dr Bhupinder Singh demonstrated polymer-related experiments, including nylon polymer synthesis, while also explaining evaporation and condensation processes. Students later visited the Physics Laboratory, where they explored practical applications of physics in daily life.
The group also toured the central workshop and observed demonstrations on raw material processing, spare-part design and fabrication, as well as additive and subtractive manufacturing techniques.
Interactive sessions and hands-on demonstrations conducted by technical staff helped students connect classroom learning with real-world applications, inspiring them to explore future opportunities in science, engineering and technology.
