REASI, Apr 17: Wrestler Chhota Saddam of Hoshiarpur, Punjab lifted the 99th Jhajjar Kotli Dangal title by defeating Lalli of Phagwara in a closely contested final bout held at Jhajjar Kotli, Jammu district.
The winner of the main malli bout, Chhota Saddam, was awarded Rs 80,000 along with a traditional pata, while runner-up Lalli received Rs 70,000. A total of 46 bouts were played in the day-long wrestling event.
In the second main bout, Nadeem of Doda defeated Sarwan of Dera Baba Nanak, Punjab. The third main bout between Rishu of Kathua and Nisar of Doda ended in a draw, with both wrestlers sharing the prize money. Other winners included Surjit Singh and Fiza of J&K Police, along with Amir Khan, Arjun, Chain Singh and Kharpu, who secured victories in their respective bouts.
The event was attended by BJP leader Nand Kishore Sharma as chief guest, while Shiv Kumar Sharma presided over the function. Organisers highlighted that the dangal promoted traditional wrestling and encouraged youth participation in sports and fitness activities.
