Martyrs’ Memorial Badminton tourney

JAMMU, Apr 15: Gopesh Singh entered the final of the Under-17 boys singles on the second day of the Martyrs’ Memorial Prize Money Badminton Tournament, being organised by the High Toss Sports Club at Champion Arena, Chowadhi, Jammu.
Sixteen quarterfinal matches were played today in both the girls’ and boys’ sections. Earlier, in the semi-final, Gopesh Singh defeated Divesh Bakshi in an exciting match by 21-13, 21-15. In the quarterfinals, he defeated Pranav by 21-15, 21-12.
In other quarterfinal matches, Divesh Bakshi beat Arshveer Singh by 21-3, 21-9, Bivan Chib defeated Ayushman Dash by 21-1, 21-4, and Vansh Dahiya overcame Atharv Bariya by 21-15, 21-7.
In the Under-13 boys section, Sarthak Koushal beat Wasif by 21-8, 21-10, Ayaansh Malhotra defeated Manveer by 21-4, 21-5 and Satvik Singh beat Aarav Fangotra by 21-4, 21-5.
In the Under-17 girls category, Akshani Manhas defeated Shivika 21-11, 19-21, 21-16, Kirat Choudhary beat Harianshi Koushal 21-19, 21-11, Sanvi Singhi defeated Aarya Mahajan 21-13, 21-9, and Bhavya Wazir beat Aanya 21-14, 21-12.
In the Under-13 girls section, Akshani Manhas beat Ruheem Choudhary by 21-16, 21-13, Rohani defeated Noor by 21-7, 21-5, Kirat Choudhary beat Saranaya Gupta by 21-7, 21-2 and Aarya Mahajan defeated Dhravya 21-5, 21-4.
The matches were officiated by Bakhtawar Singh, Sunil Bakshi, Arjun Sharma and Vikas Kumar. The final matches will be held tomorrow, followed by the prize distribution ceremony.
