Two J&K Hockey players named probables for Indian U-18 teams

JAMMU, Apr 13: Two players from Jammu & Kashmir have been selected as probables for the Indian Under-18 Men’s and Women’s Hockey Teams for the upcoming U-18 Asia Cup scheduled to be held at Kakamigahara, Japan from May 29 to 6 June 2026.
Varunpreet Singh, who represented J&K in the 16th Hockey India Sub Junior National Hockey Championship 2026 at Rajgir and won a Man of the Match award, has been selected as a probable for the Indian U-18 Men’s team. He will attend the national coaching camp at Bhopal under Coach Sardara Singh from April 19.
Akshara Dutta, who played in the J&K squad at the Sub Junior Women’s Championship 2026 in Ranchi, emerged as the top scorer in her pool and secured two player of the match awards. She has been named a probable for the Indian U-18 Women’s team and will attend the camp under coach Rani.
